I could see how the music takes away from this pretty dark tone because he doesn't just shoot him once and he dies. But the focus on Joker just changes the whole thing as well
Nicholson is intimidating in this role for sure but ironically a lot scarier looking without the Joker makeup. Like Ledger he was born to play this character.

First time I saw this in theaters at 7 I got the chills

Jack Nicholson was the perfect cast for Joker. Everyone knew him from The Shining but in order to be Joker, you have to show an insane amount of dark demeanor. If you watched The Shining you knew Nicholson would be the perfect fit. Watching him transform into the Joker and his evil laugh always gives me chills.
