  1. the train sound is there because you can see the stair to an elevated railway, and you also can see the columns. So the dramatic weigth is there, its a narrative trick, but not in the way you describe it.

  2. I think it’s worth pointing out the Justin beiber song hasn’t been simply “slowed down”, it’s been time stretched which is completely different (and there are hundreds of different time stretching algorithms that all sound different). Time stretching is very common these days but simply slowing down sound lowers the pitch and is nothing like this

  3. Fantastic observations! Love the style and info of your video, here. It's not annoying – you're calm and direct without excess dialogue – bravo good sir!

  4. I have seen the movie just a few days ago and I am completely obssessed. I don't know if someone in the comments have already pointed it out, but for me the constant rain means The Crow. That, the makeup of the group in the beginning, the grunge atmosphere. I thought about The Crow a lot while watching this. Great analysis!

  5. Gotham Citys train rails are above the ground, if you look closely at the part with the pickup you can actually see the steel beams in which are holding the train rails.

  6. Happy to see a helpful Sound Design analysis on a Film.
Analysis on Sound Design is quite rare & if available is mostly focused on the Music.

Please keep up the good work. I'm a Sound Designer & I find it interesting. I'd love to share this with my colleagues & filmmakers.

  7. very funny to watch this video as a hard of hearing person bc while I agree that the sound design is so good (I actually got to see it in an empty theater lol) a lot of the more subtler nuances are lost on me.

  8. When this movie was nominated for best Sound Design at the Oscars, I, as well as what I'm sure is thousands of more people, thought about the scene with the Batmobile and thought "yep, that makes sense" and didn't think on it any further.

The examples brought up in this video didn't even register to me when I first saw the movie, or any of the following five or six times I saw it, and I'd like to thank you for pointing them out here.
