  1. I know someone already answered your question on what did Tony/Earth Mover in but here's a little more detail in my opinion. When Tony was buried and exposed to the chemicals, he fused with the Earth but was unconscious for 10 years while his body decayed as the canisters and roots merged more. When he awoke, that's when his powers came through. As for what did him in, over the course of 10 years, his blood would have dried up and once the toxic roots merged and pumped him with chemicals, that became his blood. His live support one would say. So when Batman/Terry fired at the canisters releasing the toxic waste, that caused him to 'bleed' out and lose control of his powers resulting in a new cave in as well as his death. Once he helped save Jackie, Tony passed on before the Earth golem fell on him burying him again but this time without the chemicals in his system, his skin was ripped away leaving behind the skeleton which we only see the arm as it falls apart. I hope that helped ya Andy.

  2. Absolutely loved this episode from my childhood, only one that stuck with me. The creepyness and the dark drama of it. Just watched it again, still chills. The reveal of his corpse creeped me out when I was a kid. I loved the part where he lost control over the toxic waste and the giant dirtmonster stumbled without arms in a symbolic way and he knew that he had become a monster so he killed himself. At first I thought he was just the dirtmonster but him being that frail corpse. Also the battle scene at the end, he was exposed and extremely weak. I love that part that he had to use a proxy to fight. Excellent episode, my n1 favorite (still have to watch the rest)

  3. I loved this episode as a kid. The reveal of Tony as the earth mover always stuck in my mind. And the music was awesome.
For your question, I think that the toxic waste was basically Tony's blood. So when Terry punctured the canisters he bled to death.
And I like how sometimes Bruce forgets how young Terry is. "It was only ten years ago." "I was seven."

  4. It's a decent episode. The part I found interesting in comparison to clayface was the fact that Earth Mover wasn't a victim of your standard greedy businessman like clayface, Mr. Freeze, or the riddler. Sure the guy was cheap but he wasn't intentionally trying to screw over Tony.

  5. Earth Mover is similar to Clayface, but, unlike Hagen he actually cared about someone (Jackie). Matt was a very self centered person who treated those who tried to help him like crap. Tony loves his daughter and, ultimately, shows that by helping Terry & co escape at the end.

  6. I always found this episode a bit creepy, especially when they reveal what tony looks like in the cavern. I always thought the backstory in this episode helped to show that bill was a good man and that what happened to tony really was an accident. It makes you connect with his character more and actually care about what happens to him.

  7. I agree with your synopsis! This episode had potential but it just didn't really come together that well . I will say though the drawing of Jackie's father as Earth was drawn so well and reminds me of the level of detail from the orginal BTAS .

  8. This was a dark episode and at heart it was a family story. It did feel little like Clayface but it was your standard one episode story. It definitely has a horror vibe to it and very mature. He is almost like Geoforce in someway with him controlling the earth.
